I found this on interest as well and what really drew me to this was the floppy disks that he used. Nick Gentry is a British artist from London. Much of his artistic output has been generated with the use of contributed artefacts and materials. he is best known for these floppy disk portraits that are beautifully detailed on a unique canvas.
i feel like the main underlying idea in his work is consumerism and cyberculture in society. i love the color and light dull hidden feeling that comes from the portrait. With the very geometric background that it creates a mysterious and powerful presence from the closeup faces that really draws me to them. i notice that in almost all of his works the person's eyes are wide open which i think makes the paintings even more striking because its almost as they are staring into your eyes.
