Nick Gentry- http://www.nickgentry.com/biography.html
I found this on interest as well and what really drew me to this was the floppy disks that he used. Nick Gentry is a British artist from London. Much of his artistic output has been generated with the use of contributed artefacts and materials. he is best known for these floppy disk portraits that are beautifully detailed on a unique canvas.
i feel like the main underlying idea in his work is consumerism and cyberculture in society. i love the color and light dull hidden feeling that comes from the portrait. With the very geometric background that it creates a mysterious and powerful presence from the closeup faces that really draws me to them. i notice that in almost all of his works the person's eyes are wide open which i think makes the paintings even more striking because its almost as they are staring into your eyes.

What is Concentration? - Ronit Bigal
Ronit Bigal- http://www.saatchionline.com/ronitbigal
After telling mrs. McBride that I wasn't going to use interest i did, and found this amazing art which was on the website that ended up leading me to all different artists. Ronit Bigal is from Isreal and this was part of her portfolio called "body scripture II"
This art really captured my attention because of the perspective of the photography and the bold text on the body. I think the underlying message in her work is possibly the indian ink represents the true lives or "under the skin" of people. The website lead me to believe she possibly quotes many biblical texts in the writing which show the beliefs of the photographed. I like the symmetry in her work and the line the is use that follows the curve of the body. i love the bold and simple composition of the work with unique angles and close ups of the body.

What is a Concentration?> - Juli Jah
Juli Jah-http://julijah.carbonmade.com/
I found this artists' work originally on stumble upon which took me to her website which had all of the different categories/medias that she uses. The artist is named Juli Jah she is from Nunberg, Germany. And does all pencil and ink work but some of my favorites are combined with watercolor.
I believe the underlying message or more reoccurring message in her work is from a number of things being: feminism, individuality, or transformation. she uses sharp straight and bold lines to draw your eyes into the drawings. Using bright splashes of water colors in the work it changing the mood for the for each individual piece. She uses patterns in places of her work intertwined with her collaging of different things which create good layering. some of the elements and principles of art i see in her work are line, color, emphasis, value.

taking the 1,000 photos this summer was pretty difficult for me without a camera for the first month (my fault though). i took a lot of photos of nature and a lot of the city and took numerous day trips to knock off all my photos. After thinking i wouldn't have 6 good photos i ended up not being able to choose!
